Markus Pammer, born in 1979 in Graz, Austria, embarked on his artistic journey that has taken him across continents, currently establishing his artistic presence in Barcelona, Spain, Miami, Florida, and Vienna, Austria. His decision to move to Barcelona in 2002 marked a pivotal moment in his pursuit of a creative and artistic career.

Initially mentored by the esteemed artist and professor Norbert Nestler in Graz, Pammer laid the foundational stones of his artistic education. His formal studies continued in Barcelona, where from 2004 to 2008, he dedicated himself to Bellas Artes and attended the “Facultad de Bellas Artes – Universidad de Barcelona” in Barcelona. Pammer learned from professor Hernandez Pijuan and professor Joaquim Chancho. This comprehensive education equipped him with the technical prowess and creative insight necessary to forge his path in the art world.

Markus Pammer’s artistic practice is characterized by a distinctive approach to creating dialogues within his work, which manifest as spaces in perpetual evolution. These spaces, often imbued with a predominant sense of cheerfulness, defy conventional norms in contemporary visual art. Pammer’s philosophy revolves around the freedom of expression in painting, where he deliberately sets aside restrictions to explore and define his own creative boundaries.

He eloquently describes his artistic process: “The entirety of elements is supposed to keep up a dialogue which at the same time is rhythmic, playful and even dramatic.” This ethos underscores his commitment to creating art that not only engages aesthetically but also resonates emotionally and conceptually with viewers.

Technically, Pammer employs mixed media or acrylic paint to realize his artistic vision. This choice of medium allows him the versatility to experiment with texture, color, and form, thereby enriching the expressive depth of his artworks. Pammer’s works have found their way into private collections across Spain, Austria, the United States, France, Italy, and Germany, attesting to the international acclaim and appeal of his artistic practice.

Markus Pammer continues to evolve as an artist, driven by a relentless passion for innovation and a profound exploration of the visual language. His painting studio in the vibrant Eixample district of Barcelona serves as a creative sanctuary where ideas are nurtured and artistic visions come to life. Through his art, Pammer invites audiences to embark on a journey of discovery and contemplation, where each artwork tells a story and invites interpretation in its own rhythmic and dynamic way.

Statement of the series Dead Serious:

“Dead Serious” Series is a reflection of how the planet earth is suffering because of the mistakes of human beings. Environmental pollution, deforestation, climate change etc. is affecting us already during our daily life and it is getting worse.

I dedicate this art series to planet earth and make a statement that mother nature is the boss. If human beings won ́t start now to respect the environment, worse things will happen soon. In my point of view this topic should be addressed much more intensively in our everyday life in order to start to live in harmony with mother nature. If not, it will make us disappear very soon. This topic should be in first place for EVERYBODY. We get what we give! Mother Nature is Boss!
